We all have stories we tell ourselves. We’re either justifying who we are, or we’re shaping who we will become.

Your business is the same. It has a stories about the industry you’re in, and the way things get done. And those stories shapes your customers’ experiences.

But is the story working?

Or is the story really just a good place to hide. Is it justifying why you need to do things the same way everyone else does? Is your story full “industry standards”, and conventions, and stereotypes about what people like you do and how you do them?

Well, instead of choosing a story that explains all the good reasons about why you can’t break the mold, you could just choose a different story. A story that will stand out, a story that people will remember, a story that will spread.

It’s not hard to do, but it might seem a little bit scary at first. Scary because it means you’ll come out of hiding. Scary because you’ll be seen. But leaders aren’t hiding. Leaders are seen.
