I’ve very much enjoyed these past days and months. That’s not too say they have all been fun, or that they’ve all been easy. There’s been a pandemic after all.
And yet I have enjoyed these days and months very, very much.
I think it is much easy to enjoy moments, days, months, even tough ones, especially tough ones, when the road is toward a future that seems bright.
And since we cannot foresee the future, the question then is how to engender a belief that an unknown future is bright?
Take actions, on purpose.
We we take actions we feel like we’re on our way, we’re going somewhere. When we take those actions deliberately, on purpose, then we feel like the ‘somewhere’ that we’re going is somewhere that we want to go.
When we feel like we’re moving toward a future we want, then we can enjoy even the tough days because even when the moment is hard, if the direction brings us joy then we’ll have a sense of wellbeing even in tough times.
Sometimes when we think of taking action, we think they need to be ACTIONS – big actions, big changes… which would need big energy to effect.
But actually, small actions work much better. Tiny actions. Want to get fit – Do ONE pushup. Not one-hundred. Just one. And then do it again tomorrow. And the next day. Just. One.
Next week you can try two. But today… Just. One.
Feeling stressed. Go for a 5 minute walk. Not 30minutes. Not 5 kilometers. Just-5-Minutes.
These small actions are easy to accomplish, and they create the FEELING that you’re on your way. And that feeling matters. It’s the feeling of moving toward a future we want. It’s a great feeling.
Take actions, on purpose.
