Thinking about the world through the lens of experiences isn’t how most people do it. It’s a new game for most, and sometimes a new game requires courage.

The courage to stand out – because you’re the first in your group to switch games, because you aren’t very good when you start, because the new game is different to what the masses are doing.

And if those things are true, they also allow you to be at the front. And do you know what we call people out at the front of something new – we call them a leader.

Directions to Neverland

The truth is that everybody has their own stuff going on. In fact, it’s almost certain that nobody’s going to notice the little experiments you run. And when you realise that you rediscover something, something all the kids know and all the adults have forgotten… that playing a new game is fun.

“Second star to the right, and straight on till morning.”

That, Peter had told Wendy, was the way to the Neverland; but even birds, carrying maps and consulting them at windy corners, could not have sighted it with these instructions.

J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Neverland isn’t about not growing old, nor is about not growing up. It’s about staying young at heart. It’s about recognising that the world is a magical place if you remember to have fun. That’s how you get there.
